We translate from and into Russian

signum-logo-miniSince recently, the range of our services has expanded so that now besides English, French, Italian, German and Croatian it also includes Russian language. We offer translation and court interpreting services and we also issue certified translations from and into Russian. The person in charge of these translations is our colleague Darijana Mađer, holder of a Master degree in Italian and Russian.

About us

SIGNUM: jezici Ltd is the first and only boutique translation agency in Croatia. We offer specialised, reliable, swift and entirely tailor-made translation services.

Our translations cover law, banking and finance, auditing, civil engineering and energetics.
The business-to-business approach allows us to work mostly with clients from the banking industry, with legal, financial and accounting consultants and with small, as well as medium-sized manufacturing companies.

Thanks to the effective exchange of information with clients and consideration of their essential qualities, we are able to quickly master any kind of technical jargon, specific terminology and style.

Our services

Our translation services include English, French, Italian and Croatian language (and other languages if necessary), as well as a combination of these languages in our areas of expertise or in new areas.

We use modern computer-assisted translation tools (Trados Studio), tools for termbase management (SDL Multiterm) and text processing (ABBYY FineReader).

Our translation process always involves a translator and a language reviewer, and, if needed, a technical reviewer and a proofreader.

Written translations (certified and non-certified)

Banking and finance – internal documents of banks and finance companies, financial reports, evaluations, correspondence

Legal and court documentation – documents regarding company incorporation and statutory changes, employment contracts, agreements between companies, incorporation certificates, legal opinions, judgments, court orders and decisions

Technical documentation – product specifications, instructions for use, technical studies, documents regarding construction projects

Public procurement tenders – texts of public tenders, technical documentation required under a tender

Personal documents – diplomas, degrees, certificates, transcripts of records, statements, decisions, civil status records

Technical editing and proofreading

Technical editing – review of translation by an expert specialised in the specific field.

Proofreading – correction of spelling and grammatical errors in the translated or author’s original text.

Technical editing and proofreading services are provided by experts in specific areas who are native speakers of the languages into which the texts are translated or in which they are drafted.

Termbase management

Besides providing services of written translation and interpreting, we also perform quantitative analysis of clients’ materials to determine the most frequently used technical terms. Termbases are lists of terms used in specific technical languages. They significantly contribute to the consistency of a translation and to the coherence of expression in translated or drafted original texts.

Termbases are made in the format defined by the client or agreed upon with the client (it is usually SDL Multiterm format).

Consecutive interpreting

We translate during meetings, visits, workshops or we act as court interpreters for judicial authorities, local and state authorities and other institutions.

Consultancy services for public tenders

Analysis of materials, identification of typical errors, formal rules, thematic presentations

Language consultancy

We advise on new technical terminology or about client’s internal terminology, provide assistance in the creation of terms or develop terminology on our own with the help of experts.

One-to-one courses in language for specific purposes (English, French, Italian and Croatian for foreigners)

Depending on the clients’ areas of activity, interests and materials, we prepare and implement curriculum for one-to-one tuition in foreign languages or in Croatian for foreigners.

Court Interpreter Training

Since 2007, Director Ana Cerovski, Court Interpreter for English, French, Italian and Croatian, has been engaged as lecturer on preparatory courses for future court interpreters organised by the Croatian Professional Association of Court Interpreters (HSUST).

How we work

Interpretation and translation are two different types of services, usually provided by two different groups of professionals.

Translation

Translation service implies a written translation of a, usually technical, text. Since it very often happens that large amounts of text need to be translated within short deadlines, nowadays it is imperative for translators to use computer-assisted translation tools (CAT Tools). These tools do not imply that “a text is translated by itself”, but guarantee consistency of technical terminology, recognition of repeated segments inside a text and uniform text formatting, i.e. they ensure that the translation is more effective and functional.

Certified translations

Certified translations or court interpreter’s translations are issued for the needs of various institutions (courts, state and local government and educational institutions). A document bearing a court interpreter’s certification (seal) is a public document valid in Croatia and abroad.

Non-certified translations

Non-certified translations are translations that do not need to be certified by a court interpreter. They cover various fields and their purpose depends on client’s needs. They mostly include company or institutional internal documents that must be bilingual or multilingual, any type of reports, manuals, project documentation, websites, promotional and similar materials.

Interpretation

Simultaneous interpretation

Simultaneous interpretation is provided at conferences, congresses and other events that bring together a large number of participants. The interpreter, who is in a booth, translates spoken text with a few seconds delay compared to the speaker. Simultaneous interpretation is transmitted through a microphone to the listener who uses headphones to follow the speaker.

Consecutive

Consecutive interpretation is provided at the events that bring together a small number of participants (business meetings, workshops, various types of visits). Technically, it is provided in the following way: the speaker says a few sentences which are then interpreted by the interpreter who uses his/her notes, but does not use equipment for simultaneous interpreting.
